Earlier, we reported that the website of Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Memphis has been exploited for affiliate spam. As is often the case with other exploited websites, exploring the affiliate spam pages at the University of Memphis has led us to other exploited websites.
We have found affiliate spam pages at the websites run by following colleges and universities: Imperial Valley College, Maricopa County Community College, Ball State University, University of Essex, University of South Dakota, New York University, University of Toronto at Scarborough, University of Miami, Illinois Institute of Technology.
MacHouse no longer notifies each victimized institution of their affiliate spam problem because
1. most academic institutions have ignored our kind notifications in the past
2. the number of exploited websites is so large that we have no time to contact all victims.
